Valona Paint Out – 2010
 
The Epperson Gallery is proud to once again host the mixed medium Valona Plein Air Paint Out held in the Valona District in Crockett.  Scenic Crockett has been a favorite of painters for decades.  The Valona District covers a wide range of options from open space, to river views, bridges, C&H Sugar factory, rustic marina, hillside vistas and quaint neighborhoods.  It is a great place to paint and a fun event.
 
When:  Show dates Saturday October 23rd  through Sunday, November 7th.
 
Artists may paint from October 16th thru Noon on Friday October 22nd.Judging will done on Friday 22nd. Reception on Saturday 23rd 5:00pm -7:00pm.

Rules:   All activities will be at the Epperson Gallery, 1400 Pomona St., Crockett CA 94525
Space permitting, artists can hang up to 3 painting. All paintings submitted must be for sale.
Artist will set the price.
The Gallery will take a 40% Commission on all sales.
 
Preferred size 12 x 16 (watercolor paper 18 x 24).
Paintings must be wired and ready to hang. Unframed watercolors will be pinned.
By participation in the event, artists agree that their names and images can be used to promote future events.
 
Liability: The Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage to artwork regardless of the cause. By participation in the event each artist will be deemed to have agreed to this stipulation. Artists may wish to provide their own insurance coverage.

Also, please check out our Save Yokohl Valley page, the area is know as "The Gateway to the Sequoias". Sequoia Nation Park has the largest living creature in the world, the General Sherman tree. Developers want to put a city in the valley with 10,000 homes and 30,000 people, the area is already overdeveloped.
The show and sale will benefit efforts to stop the proposed development.

The Epperson Gallery will  featuring an exhibit of works inspired by the Central Sierras and Foothills. Seventy-five pieces of art will be in a show and sale to benefit efforts to stop the proposed development of the valley ranchland into a city of 30,000 people.  Subjects can be landscapes, barns,  animals, farming equipment, anything that would be impacted by development of the valley. Max framed size 42 united inches (i.e. 18 x 24). Entry deadline is Oct. 15th; show dates Dec. 4th - Jan. 16th, 2011. $40 entry fee will be donated to the Tulare County Citizens for Responsible Growth(TCCRG). Four entries can be submitted via CD for jury selection. Entry form and prospectus are below.

The Save Yokohl Valley show is a fundraiser for the Tulare County Citizens for Responsible Growth (TCCRG).
Fee:
• There is a $40 nonrefundable application fee (tax-deductible) to “Sierra Nevada Alliance”, the fiscal clearinghouse for TCCRG, annotated “For TCCRG”.
Application Process:
• Fill out application.
• Submit four images on a CD - jpeg format, 300 dpi.
• Do not submit slides.
• Submitted images should represent recent plein air artwork inspired by the Central Sierras and foothills. Subjects can be rural landscapes, barns, animals, farming equipment, anything that would be impacted by the development of the Sierra Foothills.
• Title each jpeg as follows: First initial, last name, and title.
• Include a file with sizes, prices, and media type for each image. Include your email address and a link to your web site (if available). All images and links will be on our web site as time allows.
• Label the CD with your first and last name.
• Enclose your CD in a sturdy jacket.
• CDs will not be returned.

The Selection Process

At Lake Elizabeth in Central Park

RULES

The Paint out is open to age 18 or over. Each artist is limited to only one submission for exhibition. Entry fee’s are $15.00 for FAA members $25.00 for non-members which includes full FAA membership status for the remainder of the year.

Artists may choose to paint any subject or scene as long as it is painted at an outdoor location (en plein air) within the park and not from a photograph.

Artists must pre-register via FAA website or at the FAA gallery prior to the day of the event. Registration deadline is September 8, 2010. Absolutely, no late registration will be accepted at the community center on the morning of the event.

The Artist’s canvas, paper, panel, etc. must be stamped prior to any work being done. Size of artwork not to exceed 30” by 30” Artists must sign in at the registration table starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, September 12th at the pop-up tent near the Pavilion at the park.

Each artist may submit one piece for exhibition and silent auction on Sunday September 12th at 2:00 p.m. Peoples Choice voting will take place at the park during the reception from 2:30 to 3:30 under the Pavilion. Photos of award winning pieces may be used in publicity for next year’s Paint Out event and may also be shown on the FAA website.

Each artist must provide their own easels for displaying their art work during exhibition under the Pavilion.

The art work submitted for people’s choice/silent auction must be framed; including matting for works on paper. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only the works that have been previously stamped during registration will be accepted. The Silent auction will take place on Sunday September 12th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. All proceeds from the silent auction go to the individual artist. Silent auction transaction is between the Artist and highest bidder.

Artists are advised to set opening bid for his or her work.

Fremont Art Association is having its 
3rd Annual Plein Air Paint Out 
     At Lake Elizabeth in Fremont Central Park
 
In its efforts to promote art in the community, the Fremont Art Association will hold a one day Plein Air Paint Out at Lake Elizabeth/Central Park in Fremont on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Artists will paint until 2:00 PM, followed by a reception at the Park Pavilion from 2:30 to 4:00PM.  The event is being cosponsored by Olive Hyde Art Guild, the Fremont Cultural Arts Council and Mission Coffee Roasting Company, who will provide coffee and mini-pastries for the artists at registration time.  It will be open to both FAA members and non-members, with members paying a $15.00 entry fee and non-members paying $25.00.  For non-members this will also include full membership in the Fremont Art Association through the end of the year.  All 2-dimensional  mediums will be accepted, to include oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and mixed media.  Artists will  paint within the park at the location of their choice, and not from a reference photograph.  You will find inspiration in many locations throughout the Park with all the wildlife, the large lake, boathouse, snack bar, playgrounds, sports fields, trees and plants, and the Aqua Adventure water park, all backed by the Niles/Mission San Jose Hills.  Artists should bring all their supplies needed to paint, including an easel and chair if needed, a bag lunch and drinking water for the day.  Hats and umbrellas are encouraged.  All participants must be 18 years old.
 
Due to City of Fremont regulations, all participants must be pre-registered, since no financial transactions can take place on City property.  Registration applications and rules can be picked up at the FAA Gallery, 37659 Niles Blvd, Fremont or from their website www.FremontArtAssociation.org ,   with a registration deadline of September 8, 2010.  

Check-in will be from 8:00 - 10:00 AM in the park at the pop-up tent which will be located between the Pavilion and the Community Center located at the intersection  of Mission View Dr. and Paseo Padre Pkwy, at which time artists’ blank canvases or papers  will be stamped on the back. Multiple canvases or papers can be stamped, though only one finished piece will be accepted from each artist at the end of the Paint Out.
 
Completed pieces must be returned to the Park Pavilion, behind the Community Center, by 2:00 PM for the reception and exhibition of completed pieces for public viewing and an optional silent auction from 2:30 PM -4:00 PM.  The exhibition will also include a “People’s Choice” voting and award where spectators will vote for their favorite works.  Photos of the pieces receiving awards may be used in publicity for next years’ Paint Out event and may also be shown on the FAA website, (see above URL ).  All works submitted for the People’s Choice and/or silent auction must be framed; including matting for works on paper. No exceptions.

North Tahoe Plein Air 2010.  Our event will be held at the Village at Northstar the same weekend as the Autumn Food and Wine Festival September 8-12  Artists will paint Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and the exhibit and sale will take place Saturday and Sunday.  Again you will have the opportunity to be part of the continuing show at North Tahoe Arts.

Jury Selection and Eligibility
A jury of artists will select the 2010 participating artists. Selection will be based upon items of plein air work created since January 2009, digitized and submitted via CD. 

Entry Requirements (All requirements must be complete)
All entries must be received by April 30, 2010
Submit 3 digital images of current (created since January 2009) plein air work
Images of your work should be professionally photographed, color accurate and cropped to omit any framing.
Submit JPEG images on a disc clearly labeled with your name, disc should be a minimum of 200 DPI with the artists name, title and size (without frame) of the piece and medium in the file name.  For example:   Monet_Poppies at Giverny_30x30_oil

Artist agrees to give 40% of all sales from the sales generated during the North Tahoe Plein Air event to NTA to be shared with the Truckee Donner Land Trust 
Housing requirements will be met on a first come first served basis.

Eligibility:	Open to non-members and MSA dues paid members with 8 work-to-show hrs (accumulated for the last 4 months).
Entries:		Up to three per artist, 2- or 3-dimensional.
A maximum of 3 pieces may be accepted.
Requirements:	1.   Entries may include paintings, sculpture, printmaking, photography and non-utilitarian crafts and must be hand-delivered.  Non-utilitarian means the item has no practical use. Submit only the most original form of your art. Work must not have been previously shown at MSA. 
Framed work must be properly framed, clean and ready for installation, with wire and flat hangers. No clip-on frames or protruding eye screws. Plexiglas rather than glass must be used on works over 30” x 36”.
No wet paintings. Oil and acrylic works on canvas (or other surfaces which are not glazed) must be framed or stapled on the back with all visible edges painted.
All work must be clearly marked with artist’s name, title of work, medium, value and any special handling instructions.
It is the responsibility of the artist to help move and install oversized or heavy works.
No item may be removed before the show closes.
MSA gallery receives 30% of the sale price from sold works.  
Members only - work for rent must be priced over $75.

Fees:  	Members: $10 for one entry, $18 for two entries, $25 for three entries. Non-members: $20 per entry.
	
Pick up:	Non-accepted work to be picked up on notice.  Other work to be picked up on Sunday, November 14 between 2 and 4 p.m.
	Work not picked up within 15 days will be donated to the MSA auction.
Awards:	Cash awards are:  $100 First, $75 Second and $50 Third Place. Up to 3 honorable mentions may be chosen.

6th Annual Rivertown Plein Air Paint Out

CALL FOR ENTRIES

This year due to City budget cuts, the Rivertown Plein Air Paint Out will be brought to you independently from the Arts and Cultural Foundation of Antioch. Therefore, the event will not take place as it has in the previous years at the Lynn House Gallery. Fortunately, Artist, Jody Mattison was kind enough to offer her studio, Antioch Atelier as this year’s venue.

The registration fee is $25.00.  100% of the sales income will go directly to the Artists.

Due to limited space, the event will be limited to the first 30 registered artists (received entries only).  There is limited hanging space, so some of you may want to display your finished pieces on your own easels. Pieces displayed on easels do not need to be framed or wired for hanging.

Check in: 9 – 10 am at Antioch Atelier, 813 West Third Street, Antioch, CA 94509 

Art drop off:  Bring your finished pieces anytime from 10 am – 3 pm

Reception: 4 – 6 pm 

Vote on best of Show: 3:30 - 4:30 Winner will be announced at 5 pm.
