I would like to invite you to this year's 5th Annual Plein Air Exhibition in the city of Alameda. You won't want to miss this. The exhibition is the culmination of a week's paintings of Alameda and environs by myself and 39 other invited artists. This will be a wonderful opportunity to see quality work done by experienced and talented artists from all overCalifornia as well as from other states. The week's event is sponsored byThe Frank Bette Center for the Arts, a local gallery and teaching center.

If you are unable to attend Saturday's Exhibition, you are welcome to come to Alameda anytime during the week before Saturday to watch the artists at work! Just check in with the gallery to see where we are painting.

Hope to see you there!

LESLIE WILSON WATERCOLORS
Newsletter
August 2010

Greetings All,

Summer brings many opportunities for plein air painting and art shows, benefits and events.  I am fortunate to have been accepted into the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Alameda, CA; and Scene on the Strait, Martinez, CA.  It has also been a wonderful experience participating with the California Watercolor Association’s 41st National Exhibition  (Presidio Officer’s Club and Visitor’s Center) in San Francisco, including hanging the show and teaching children and adults in CWA’s Outreach program.

In addition, I continue to offer watercolor classes in Orinda (at Dorothy Davis’ studio), and look forward to teaching watercolors at the Art Exploration Class for the Dublin Unified School District this fall.  Please let me know if you are interested in classes or workshops.  This summer, I also taught a watercolor class at the beautiful Dublin Senior Center.

Please visit my updated website for images of recent paintings and for details about current and upcoming events.  www.lesliewilson.net

I hope you are having a wonderful art-filled summer!

Scene on the Strait, Martinez, California

“Southport Beach” is one of approximately 20 paintings that I’ll be showing at Scene on the Strait, Martinez, California
22” x 30” unframed; 32” x 40” framed

This painting was inspired by a winter trip to Connecticut, and a stunning view of Southport Beach and the Long Island Sound.  The warm colors, icy temperatures and vast landscape made an exciting combination.

Scene on the Strait is a prestigious annual event and I am proud to be selected among the 20 artists who will be participating.   This year’s One-Day Art Show, Sale and Major Auction benefits CREEC (Carquinez Regional Environmental Education Center).

Saturday, August 14  10am – 5pm
Martinez Regional Shoreline Park – entrance off Ferry Street.
Hope to see you there!  Free admission.
