MENLO PARK, Calif. -- The Portola Art Gallery presents “Two Artists; Two Views” - a joint exhibition of recent plein air and studio works by Alice Weil and Mary K. Stahl. The oil and pastel paintings feature landscapes from across California, including the local foothills and coastline.

Alice Weil of Menlo Park finds peace painting under the shade of the mighty oaks as they grace the golden hills of the Stanford property and outlying areas. Her paintings reflect the power and strength of the Bay Area landscape. Inspired by the fog laden hills, and passionate about the feeling of the paint on canvas, Weil wants the viewer to be taken away to a quiet relaxed place in her paintings.  www.aliceweil.com

Mary K. Stahl of Palo Alto records her unique interpretation of the natural landscape and other subjects using soft pastels or oils, usually employing alla prima techniques of painting to achieve her final result in one session. Her paintings, influenced by the California painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, display a certain nuance or gentleness.www.marystahl.com
