Jerry’s Surprise Party

HI FOLKS:  FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT WERE AT CHINA CAMP YESTERDAY, I WON'T NEED TO DESCRIBE THE MAGIC OF THE PLACE.  AS A PARADISE FOR PAINTERS, A FREE, QUIET, LAID BACK PLACE TO RELAX AND BE WITH NATURE, OF THE KIND THE BAY AREA USED TO BE LIKE, MANY YEARS AGO.  BUT ALSO AS A SPIRITUAL RETREAT.  A PLACE WHERE ONE CAN "RE-CREATE" THEMSELVES, GET IN TOUCH WITH SUN, AIR, WATER, ESSENSE,  NOT FOUND IN THE USUAL PLACES WE CHOOSE TO LIVE.  IF YOU TRY AND VISUALIZE A PERFECT PLACE

TO PAINT, SUBLIME LANDSCAPES, DREAMSCAPES, YOU WOULDN'T BE FAR OFF CHINA CAMP.  BUT I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL WHO CAME AND GAVE ME A "SURPRISE"  BIRTHDAY PARTY, WITH PIZZA, DRINKS, EATS, AND CAKE WITH CANDLES FOR LUNCH.  BUT THE BEST WAS YET TO COME.  A BBQ DOWN ON THE GREEN PENINSULA , OVERLOOKING" RAT ISLAND" AND VIEWS OF THE NORTH BAY, SEEMING UNTOUCHED FROM THE MAW OF CIVILIZATION, AT LEAST NOT FROM THAT DISTANCE.  I MEANS, GEEZ, LOUISE,  BBQ CHICKEN, VEGGIES, GREENSALAD, POTATO AND SLAW SALADS, WINE AND OTHER GROG, MORE FINGER FOODS, THEY EVEN LUGGED A WATER MELON DOWN THERE.  TERRY BROUGHT HIS MINI BBQ, PUT IT ON THE TABLE AND

OTHERS BROUGHT BRICKETS AND FIRED UP THE BIG PITS.  TWO GREAT CHEFS, CRAIG BRITTON       AND DOUG SIMON  DID THE MOST TASTY BBQ IN MEMORY.  WHAT A FEAST.  BUT THE LINGERING ALMOST HARVEST SUN (DUE TO THE NAPA FIRES), LOW IN THE WESTERN SKY HELD THE MAGIC OF THE DAY TILL 8 PM, CASTING ITS TONGUE INTO THE WATER RIGHT INTO OUR LAPS.  SOME STAYED AND BATHED IN THE WARM SUMMER AIR AND LIGHT AND COULDN'T LEAVE.  SOME PAINTED LATE, RIGHT TILL SUN DOWN.  WE WERE SO MEZMERIZED BY IT ALL, WE DIDN'T GET AROUND TO OUR CRITIQUE.

THAT WILL  HAVE TO BE AT ANOTHER TIME.  I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR A WONDERFUL DAY AND PARTY.  BEING 75 WON'T BE SO BAD WITH THAT KIND SENDOFF.
